The past 2nd December in Lisbon has been presented the Interreg MED projects for the 2021-2027 period, to reach climate neutrality.
CRIEP participates in this program with the project WECAREMED – “ToWards thE CARbon offsEtting in MED”, which has the objective to develop a tool to measure the carbon footprint of all the Interreg Med projects financed in the 2021-2027 period. At the same time, it wants to provide the guidelines to reduce or, if it is not possible, to compensate for the carbon emission of each activity of the project.
WECAREMED, led by Arpa Veneto and partnered by the University of Seville and Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, obtained €476.000 in financing and will last for a year, with the conclusion in July 2022.
The MED program, which operates in 13 different Mediterranean countries, promotes neutrality from a climate point of view as a principal challenge for the next mandate, to build a better future for all the population. With this initiative, the main purpose is to give a guide to the zero impact for all the projects that are going to be financed in the next 7 years.
