Mobility restrictions and alcohol use during lockdown: “A still and dry pandemic for the many”?. Available at sciencedirect.com
Highlights
-
We examine whether mobility disruptions after lockdowns are social drinking ‘tipping points’.
-
We find that mobility restrictions depress both mobility and alcohol use for all except for heavy drinkers (consistent with a ‘still and dry pandemic for the many’ hypothesis).
-
A reduction in social contacts further reduces drinking use by 2.8 percentage points among men.
