Which Vision of Sustainability for Mountain Areas? Voice to the Experts. FEEM Policy Brief No. 21-2020.
Abstract:
Declining sustainability at the local level means considering the characteristics of each territory, understanding its priorities, needs and ambitions. Often neglected by national and international plannings and directives, mountains are places where sustainable development can and must be pursued by combining the naturalistic and landscape resources with the economic and social potential enclosed in them. In order to recognize and enhance the active role of mountain areas in the process of localization of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals and in the implementation of the action plan proposed by the international 2030 Agenda, Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei and University of Verona’s Department of Economic Sciences organized the event “Which vision of sustainability for mountain areas? A debate between researchers and citizens”. The first of the two dates hosted multidisciplinary contributions from mountain specialists in an online webinar. This Workshop Brief provides a structured summary of this event.
